Early Morning
- The Armchair Gardner

Early morning in the garden. The air is still. The butterflies are not yet beginning their day. The sounds of quaker parrots calling to each other while dogs bark and announce once again that this garden is theirs to explore, and no cats are allowed. The shadows on the leaves dance as a breeze begins to blow. The bamboos and palm trees start their duet of whispering to each other and to me as I sip my coffee. The orange and red epidendrums have their moment, showing everybody that spring has begun, and the yellow flowers on the tabebuia trees are not the only show in town. Soon, the jacarandas and poinciana trees will be challenging the eye for dominance. It is a beautiful morning, and the garden starts the day with promise while the Pride and US flags wave from the dock to the egrets who fly the waterway looking for breakfast. Early morning in the garden is like opening a new book, each page challenging the imagination and immersing the reader in a new adventure.
